On January 20, GOT7 made their long-awaited comeback with their mini album ‘WINTER HEPTAGON’ with the title track “Python”.

I was looking forward to this comeback and had very high expectations for it. I rewatched their teaser video multiple times because I couldn’t get the song out of my head. Keep in mind, I’m not the type of person to watch teaser videos. I usually like to wait and keep myself from spoilers but I couldn’t help it with GOT7.

The album has nine tracks each song showcases the member’s unique music style individually and as a group. Their album ‘WINTER HEPTAGON’ has the songs: PYTHON (title track), SMOOTH, Our Youth, REMEMBER, Darling, Tidal Wave, OUT THE DOOR, her, and Yours Truly, (우리가 할 수 있는 말은.).

Besides the title track my other favorite songs on the album are “her” and “Yours Truly, (우리가 할 수 있는 말은.)”. I know the more I listen to the album I’ll gravitate towards the other songs and it’ll depend on my mood too. As of right now I’ve been replaying “Python”.

The title track is slightly dark and alluring, just like the music video. The members vocals and rap verses blend so well. The lyrics and choreography are iconic (pun intended). The point in the song that stood out to me is the pre-chorus with Jinyoung when he sings, “I’ve been running backwards Running backwards like a marathon”. I enjoyed how the synth looms behind his vocals, it’s the perfect build up to the chorus.

Not only did GOT7 release a stellar song and music video but a whole mini album too.
