When you think about an opening ceremony in Brazil, there’s one thing that comes to mind (at least in my mind).
Basically the carnival scene in the movie, Rio, is what I had in mind. Bright lights, color, lively music, and an overall party.
But with Brazil’s strict budget, did they meet my expectations? Did they deliver an Olympic worthy opening?
Last night I sat on the couch with my family, a cup of coffee on one hand and a pretty high expectation for the ceremony.
The opening started with the history of Brazil and they talked about the environment (which I loved). 
The use of projections was superb and the use of these string things that looked like vines (in a way) was also great.
Yes, they had dancers and lots of color throughout the opening.
Moving along after the athletes marched in I was still waiting for that huge carnival finish.
They had samba dancers and musicians, each group separated by color.
I’ll admit the music was very lively. It made me want to get up and dance!
But (besides the music) my favorite thing to see during the whole ceremony was the torch lighting. Honestly, this is the most beautiful Olympic torch I’ve ever seen.
The mirrors reflected the light from the fire. Not to mention the mirrors rotated, which reflected the light all over the stadium. It was definitely exquisite.
When the opening ceremony finished I filmed a quick little video and finally got some rest, I can’t imagine how the athletes feel.
Now I’m writing this while watching the games. Truly the Olympics are a special thing. I always look forward to cheering (not only my country) but other countries as well.
